Concert by BOOST Percussion Group and George Georgiou (bass clarinet)

On 7 October 2026 at 20:30, The Shoe Factory in Nicosia will host a concert by BOOST Percussion Group and George Georgiou on bass clarinet. The performance is part of the 17th International Festival of Contemporary Music Pharos. This will be BOOST’s debut in Cyprus.

The programme includes Trio per Uno by Nebojša Jovan Živković, 1/3 Construction by Mikel Kuehn, Third Construction by John Cage, and Zourrrrr... by Andis Skordis. Živković’s and Cage’s works will be performed in Cyprus for the first time, while 1/3 Construction and Zourrrrr... will receive their world premieres.

Zourrrrr... was commissioned by the 17th International Festival of Contemporary Music Pharos and inspired by the Ngunging ceremony, which the composer witnessed in Bangli, Bali. In the work, four percussionists take on the roles of temple musicians, while the bass clarinet becomes the voice of a witch. BOOST Grupo de Percusión consists of four percussionists from Castile–La Mancha, Spain, and works with electronic, contemporary, classical, and world music.

George Georgiou performs classical and contemporary repertoire and presents new works by Cypriot and international composers.
