Concert-dramedy “Silence is Golden”

On 14 October 2026, Nicosia will host the concert-dramedy “Silence is Golden” as part of the 17th International Festival of Contemporary Music Pharos. The programme features soprano Sarah Maria Sun, clarinettist Julian Bliss and pianist Jan Philip Schulze. The concert begins at 20:30.

The musical programme brings together Lied, cabaret, opera, Broadway and contemporary music. Works by Franz Schubert, George Gershwin, Benjamin Britten, Gustav Mahler, Kurt Weill and Leonard Bernstein will be performed, including Der Hirt auf dem Felsen, The Man I Love, Cabaret Songs, Des Knaben Wunderhorn, One Life to Live, Die gefangenen Sänger, Das war ich, Sehnsucht and What a Movie from Trouble in Tahiti.

Sarah Maria Sun performs works from the 20th and 21st centuries; her repertoire includes more than 2,000 compositions and over 400 world premieres. Julian Bliss performs as a soloist, chamber musician and jazz artist. Jan Philip Schulze specialises in chamber and contemporary music, accompanies vocalists and takes part in performances of new works.

The concert will take place at The Shoe Factory on Ermou Street in Nicosia.
