LAB51 Concert

The LAB51 concert will take place on 9 October 2026 at 20:30 at The Shoe Factory in Nicosia. The performance is part of the programme of the 17th International Festival of Contemporary Music Pharos.

LAB51 is an interdisciplinary duo founded in 2016 by soprano Johanna Vargas and pianist Magdalena Cerezo. The duo won first prize at the John Cage Competition in Halberstadt, performed at the contemporary music courses in Darmstadt and at the ECLAT and Royaumont festivals, and completed an artistic residency at the Cité Internationale des Arts in Paris. LAB51 performances have been broadcast by Deutschlandfunk, NDR, Radio France and RTVE.

The concert programme includes three works: The Cold Trip 2 by Bernhard Lang for voice, piano and laptop, Retrouvailles by Georges Aperghis for two actor-percussionists, and Mysteries of the Macabre by György Ligeti for coloratura soprano and piano. All three works will be performed in Cyprus for the first time.
