Description of Kervansaray Beach

Kervansaray Halk Plajı is located in a small bay on the coast of the Karaoğlanoğlu area. The beach is managed by the Kyrenia Municipality, so access to the grounds is free. A fee is charged only for the use of beach equipment.

The shore is predominantly sandy, with some rocks in places. The entry into the water is gradual, while breakwaters partially protect the bay from strong waves. Sea conditions may change depending on the wind and weather.

The beach has a small pier. It is used for entering the water and relaxing; however, before diving, you should check the depth in advance and follow the lifeguards' instructions.

Admission cost

Payment is required only when renting a sun lounger and umbrella. Visitors may settle on the free part of the beach with their own towel. Before your trip, keep in mind that the municipality may change the tariff during the summer season.

Even when the sea is calm, children should not enter the water without adult supervision. The depth increases more quickly near the pier than in the main sandy part of the beach.

When is the best time to visit

The main beach season in Northern Cyprus lasts from May until the end of October. Kervansaray can be crowded in July and August, especially on weekends and in the afternoon.

To choose an available sun lounger, it is more convenient to arrive in the morning. In June, September and early October, air temperatures are usually milder, while the sea remains suitable for swimming.

How to get to Kervansaray Beach

The beach is located in Karaoğlanoğlu, near the Merit Park complex, approximately 7 km west of central Kyrenia.

By car

From Kyrenia, drive west along the main coastal road towards Karaoğlanoğlu and Alsancak. The turn towards the beach is located not far from Merit Park. Parking is available near the grounds, but there may be fewer free spaces on weekends.

By minibus

Dolmuş minibuses run along the road between Kyrenia, Karaoğlanoğlu and Alsancak. You can tell the driver Kervansaray Halk Plajı or Merit Park in advance. From the main road, you will need to walk to the beach.

By taxi

You can reach the beach by city taxi. It is recommended to agree on the fare before departure.
