Inflation in the TRNC rose to 3.04% in August, while annual inflation slowed to 37.70%

The TRNC Statistical Institute announced the inflation figures for August: consumer prices in Northern Cyprus rose by 3.04% over the month. In annual terms, the increase amounted to 37.70%, while since December 2025 it has reached 24.01%.

The monthly figure was higher than in July, when prices rose by 2.90%. Annual inflation, meanwhile, slowed slightly, from 38.10% a month earlier.

Vegetables recorded the sharpest price increases in August: fresh beans rose by 83.73%, lettuce by 58.95%, and beetroot by 53.67%. The most notable price declines were recorded for standard State Theatre tickets, down 50%, cucumbers, down 35.24%, and fresh okra, down 34.77%.

Among the main expenditure groups, alcoholic beverages and tobacco recorded the largest increase, at 8.35% over the month. They were followed by transport (4.96%), restaurants and hotels (4.74%), education (3.97%), and food and non-alcoholic beverages (3.73%). Miscellaneous goods and services rose by 3.07%, healthcare by 2.97%, furnishings and household maintenance by 2.17%, recreation and culture by 1.60%, housing and utilities by 1.41%, and communications by 0.25%.

The only group in which prices fell over the month was clothing and footwear, down 3.90%. Overall, average prices rose for 372 of the 480 goods and services monitored and fell for 108.
