19-year-old driver hit a police officer and tried to flee the pursuit

A 19-year-old man was arrested in Limassol on suspicion of dangerous driving, during which a police officer was injured.

The incident occurred on the afternoon of July 9. A police officer tried to stop a pickup truck without registration plates for inspection, but the driver ignored the order, ran a red light and, violating traffic rules, attempted to flee.

After some time, the driver stopped, after which, while reversing, he crashed into the police service motorcycle. As a result, the police officer sustained minor injuries.

To stop the vehicle, the police officer fired three shots at the wheels, but the driver managed to escape.

During the investigation, police established the suspect's identity. On the evening of July 10, he was found near a house in Limassol next to the pickup truck. When he saw the police officers, he tried to run away, but was detained.

The vehicle was seized as evidence. The detainee is being investigated for dangerous driving, failure to comply with a police stop order, causing grievous bodily harm and other offenses. The investigation is ongoing.
