1,423 ampoules of ‘laughing gas’ found in Ayia Napa clubs

Police also seized 455 balloons and three metal cylinders during the night-time operation

Cyprus Police conducted a night-time operation at nightclubs in Ayia Napa, during which more than 1,400 ampoules of nitrous oxide, known as «laughing gas», were discovered and seized.

The operation was carried out by officers from the drug squad (Υ.ΚΑ.Ν.) with the support of the rapid response unit (M.M.A.D.) under a court warrant.

Four venues were inspected during the operation. In three of them, law enforcement officers found 1,423 ampoules of nitrous oxide, which is classified as a controlled medicinal substance, as well as 455 balloons and three metal cylinders.

Two people were arrested following the operation on suspicion of illegally possessing a Class B controlled drug.

Ayia Napa Police are continuing their investigation.
