The Paphos Chamber of Commerce and Industry (EVEP) has sent an official appeal to the President of the Republic of Cyprus, Nikos Christodoulides, expressing the business community’s deep concern over long delays in the implementation of key infrastructure projects of strategic importance for the economic development of the district. The document emphasizes that administrative barriers, bureaucratic procedures and the inefficiency of executive mechanisms on the part of state bodies are negatively affecting the investment climate and significantly hindering the region’s modernization.
Among the priority projects whose implementation has been suspended or is significantly behind schedule, the chamber’s leadership highlighted the construction of the Paphos — Polis Chrysochous highway, the modernization and development of port infrastructure in Kato Paphos, as well as the overall reconstruction and improvement of the municipal road network. Representatives of the Chamber of Commerce and Industry urged the head of state to personally intervene in the situation in order to streamline tender procedures, accelerate interdepartmental coordination and promptly remove obstacles that are causing direct economic damage to the tourism sector and commercial activity in Paphos.
