More than 2,000 police officers to ensure order during parliamentary elections in Cyprus
Cyprus Police will deploy more than 2,000 officers to ensure security and the smooth conduct of the parliamentary elections, announced Marina Christodoulidou, a representative of the Police Headquarters press office.
According to her, law enforcement agencies have prepared special operational plans aimed at monitoring the voting process, maintaining public order, and responding quickly to potential incidents.
Starting Sunday morning, the Central Crisis Coordination Center will begin operations in Nicosia to manage activities across the country. Simultaneously, regional operational centers will open in other cities.
Police officers will be stationed directly at polling stations and will also participate in mobile patrols to ensure a safe and organized election process. Special attention will be paid to locations with high voter turnout and public safety concerns.
Marina Christodoulidou also noted that, if necessary, the police will introduce special traffic management measures to facilitate citizens' access to polling stations and prevent congestion.
Law enforcement authorities urged residents to follow the instructions of police officers and election committee members during voting.
“Our goal is to ensure a calm, safe, and unhindered electoral process within the scope of the police's mandate to maintain order and security,” emphasized the representative.
The parliamentary elections in Cyprus will take place this coming Sunday and will be one of the key political events of the year for the country.
