British bases hand over 14 mosquito traps to the municipalities of Kourion and Limassol
The leadership of the United Kingdom's Sovereign Base Areas in Cyprus has handed over 14 specialized mosquito traps to the local authorities of the municipalities of Kourion and Limassol. This initiative is aimed at strengthening public health measures and combating the spread of dangerous infectious diseases transmitted by insects in the regions concerned.
The equipment transferred operates using modern technologies that simulate the biological factors attracting insects, making it possible to effectively reduce pest populations without the use of toxic chemicals. Municipal services plan to place the equipment in areas with a heightened risk of mosquito breeding, including natural reservoirs and marshy areas adjacent to residential neighborhoods.
Official representatives of the local authorities expressed their gratitude to the leadership of the British bases for the logistical support, noting the importance of coordinated efforts in environmental monitoring and sanitary control on the island.
