British bases strengthen patrols with new equipment
The administration of the British Sovereign Base Areas (SBA) has put into service four new specialized patrol vehicles for civil control service staff in Dhekelia and Akrotiri.
The new equipment is designed to detect administrative and environmental violations, including illegal construction, unauthorized structures and activities that damage protected natural areas. In addition to the vehicles, inspectors have also received body-worn cameras, digital cameras and protective vests.
The SBA administration said the upgrade will strengthen oversight, improve response times and make patrol work more visible to residents.
