Paralimni town centre to get a new look as part of major project

The Paralimni — Deryneia Municipality has received approval to implement a paving and reconstruction project in the central part of Paralimni. The project envisages a comprehensive renewal of the town centre: replacing the existing road surface, creating and upgrading pavements, new green spaces and parking areas, planting trees, as well as developing spaces to serve shops and visitors.

The municipality noted that the aim of the project is to create a modern, functional and accessible urban space that will improve residents’ everyday lives, promote commercial and community activity, and enhance Paralimni’s appearance for tourists and other visitors. Particular attention has been paid to preserving the town’s identity. The project is intended to reflect its history, traditions and the collective memory of its residents.

One of the key elements will be the new Central Square. Combined with the reconstruction of the town centre and the creation of a multi-storey car park, it is expected to become a modern urban area of European standard and a new landmark for Paralimni. Planning approval was obtained on 10 August. The municipality must now complete the final construction drawings and the necessary technical studies, after which the procedure for obtaining a building permit will begin.

Once all the necessary approvals have been completed, the project will move to the implementation stage.
