Four arrests and more than 200 fines: the results of a night police operation in Cyprus

During large-scale night operations to prevent crime and maintain public order, Cyprus police detained four people suspected of committing various offenses. The charges include theft, burglary, illegal presence in the republic and assaulting a police officer.

According to law enforcement, enhanced patrols and checks were organized across the country last night in high-risk areas. The main goal of the operations was to prevent serious crimes, ensure public safety and increase citizens’ sense of security.

As part of the raids, police officers checked 662 drivers and 208 vehicle passengers. In addition, inspections were carried out at 64 establishments, resulting in 11 reports for identified violations.

Particular attention was paid to compliance with traffic rules. Overnight, police issued 212 fines for various traffic violations and opened investigations into five separate cases. The most common violation was speeding, with 92 such cases recorded.

During the checks, seven vehicles were also impounded. Police officers conducted 353 alcohol tests on drivers, resulting in 22 reports. Another driver tested positive for narcotics in a preliminary screening.

Police emphasized that such preventive operations are carried out on a daily basis. An increased law enforcement presence, targeted inspections and operational measures are aimed at reducing crime and maintaining public order across the country.
