Four people injured in crash on the Limassol–Platres road
Four people were injured in a road accident on the Limassol–Platres road near the community of Alassa on the evening of Saturday, 29 August. Two passenger cars collided, and rescuers had to free one of the injured from the wreckage.

Fire Service spokesperson Andreas Kettis said the collision occurred at around 18:00. The cars collided with their sides and fronts, and the circumstances are being investigated. A fire engine and a rescue team were dispatched to the scene.
The person trapped in the first car was freed using rescue equipment and handed over to an ambulance crew. He was taken to the emergency department of Limassol Hospital.
According to police, who also attended the scene, four people were injured in total, three of them members of the same family: a 62-year-old couple and their daughter, who were travelling in one of the cars. All three were hospitalised.
The daughter and the 47-year-old driver of the second car sustained minor injuries and were kept in hospital for observation. Doctors assess the condition of all four injured people as not life-threatening.
On Sunday morning, police reported that there were no particular problems on the island’s main roads. The exception was the Kambos–Lefka mountain road, where rocks and masses of earth fell after heavy rain; local authority crews are clearing the carriageway. Drivers are urged to exercise caution.
