Bi-communal initiative in Cyprus: 20 years of joint gull monitoring on the Kıdhes Islands in Karpasia
Scientists and environmentalists from both communities on the island marked the 20th anniversary of a unique monitoring program for the population of the Mediterranean gull (Audouin's gull) on the uninhabited Kıdhes Islands off the coast of Karpas. This project is recognized as the longest-running joint environmental initiative in Cyprus, which, despite the political division, helps researchers effectively protect the region's biodiversity and monitor the condition of rare bird species.
