The 22nd Apple Festival will take place in Kyperounta on 10 and 11 October

The 22nd Apple Festival will take place in the mountain village of Kyperounta in Troodos on 10 and 11 October. Admission is free: the venue opens at 10:00 on Saturday, and the festival ends at 20:00 on Sunday.

The festival is organised by the Kyperounta Community Council and the local youth centre. The programme includes an exhibition of local apple varieties, traditional jams and homemade preserves, a fair and entertainment. The detailed programme for 2026 has not yet been announced.

Kyperounta is located in the Pitsilia region, where, according to the Ministry of Agriculture, Rural Development and Environment, the island’s largest apple-growing areas are found. The altitude, cold winters, mild summers and fertile soil create suitable conditions for horticulture. In total, apple orchards cover around 450 hectares in Cyprus and produce approximately €2.2 million worth of agricultural products annually (2023 data).

The festival grew out of a community celebration with dancing that was held in 2002. In 2012, it moved to the central square and became a full-day event, while since 2014 it has been held over two days and is considered one of Pitsilia’s main autumn celebrations.
