Germany Extradites Elderly Man to Cyprus Over Alleged Cocaine Trafficking

German authorities have extradited a 71-year-old man to Cyprus, where he is suspected of involvement in two major cocaine trafficking cases.

According to a press release from the Cypriot police, the suspect has been linked to two significant incidents involving drug shipments.

• First Incident (May 13, 2022):
  A 58-year-old man and a 62-year-old woman were arrested in Limassol after being found in possession of 2.5 kilograms of cocaine. The Limassol Criminal Court later sentenced the man to 10 years in prison and the woman to 3 years.

• Second Incident (May 27, 2022):
  Authorities discovered a container at the Limassol port holding 6.5 kilograms of cocaine. A 58-year-old man was arrested and sentenced by the Limassol Criminal Court to 13 years in prison.

In both cases, evidence pointed to the involvement of the 71-year-old man, who was subsequently arrested in Germany in August. On Monday, he was extradited to Cyprus and immediately taken into custody.

The suspect is scheduled to appear before the Limassol District Court today for a hearing regarding his detention.
