Government to Provide Educational Support to Over 45,000 Students in Cyprus

The government of the Republic of Cyprus has announced a comprehensive support package totaling €9.5 million for students. This aid will benefit over 45,000 students across the country.

The initiative, called "Together at the Start of Every New Path," was unveiled by President Nikos Christodoulides.

This program is designed to alleviate the financial burden on families as students return to school and includes grants for school supplies, technology purchases, and transportation subsidies.

The support package includes:

• €100 grants for school supplies for 26,000 students starting their primary education.
• €200 grants for tablets and €400 grants for laptops for 17,000 students in designated groups.
• €150 grants for families with three or more children attending private schools.
• Significant reductions in public transportation costs for secondary school students, potentially affecting around 20,000 students.

President Christodoulides emphasized the importance of investing in education, stating that supporting students today will ensure "a more promising future for everyone."

Additionally, it has been announced that child benefit payments in Cyprus will increase by 5% for all recipients, with the adjustment being retroactive to January 1, 2024. A new measure will also provide 50% of the child benefit to students from large families.
