Christodoulides to hold a week of talks on the Cyprus settlement in New York

Cyprus President Nikos Christodoulides is travelling to New York for the 81st session of the United Nations General Assembly. The week is dedicated to the Cyprus settlement, with meetings scheduled with UN Secretary-General António Guterres and his Personal Envoy on the Cyprus issue.

On 20 September, the president will meet with representatives of the Cypriot diaspora; on 21 September, with King Abdullah II of Jordan, and will take part in a summit on multilateralism. On 22 September, the opening of the General Assembly session will take place, along with meetings with business leaders and the UN Personal Envoy for Cyprus.

On 23 September, Christodoulides will address the plenary session of the General Assembly — at approximately 12:30 New York time. On the same day, he will take part in a climate change summit.

On 24 September, a breakfast on EU–Gulf cooperation, a separate meeting with Guterres and a lunch with the permanent representatives of the countries that are members of the UN Security Council are scheduled. On 25 September, talks with Vice President of the People's Republic of China Han Zheng and a meeting with representatives of the American Jewish Committee will take place, followed in the evening by a dinner with the diaspora. The president will return to Cyprus on 26 September.

Accompanying the president on the trip will be Foreign Minister Konstantinos Kombos, Government Spokesperson Konstantinos Letymbiotis and Cyprus settlement negotiator Menelaos Menelaou.
