AI Failed to Replace the Oldest Profession: Demand for “Geeky” Escorts Surges in Silicon Valley

While some professionals fear that artificial intelligence will leave them out of work, others have managed to profit from the AI boom in a very unexpected way.

In Silicon Valley, demand is surging for escorts who are not only attractive but also able to hold a conversation about neural networks, cryptocurrencies, biohacking and the future of technology. Forbes reports on this.

According to the publication, just a few years ago an hour with a high-end escort in the region cost about $1,000. Today, some women charge from $3,000 to $5,000 an hour, and longer weekend encounters can cost clients $30,000 or more.

One of the figures in the report is Meida Marek — a pseudonym for a woman who, after graduating from college, worked in finance. But soon she began to wonder whether she would be able to keep her profession in the era of rapidly advancing artificial intelligence. In the end, Marek decided to change careers and become an escort, betting on her own appearance and a deep interest in technology.

According to her, her clients often include employees and entrepreneurs from the IT industry. Interest from specialists working with artificial intelligence is especially noticeable. Marek says that lately many of her clients have been employees of Nvidia.

Forbes sources note that wealthy tech workers often want more than just sex. Many are willing to pay large sums for attention, emotional support and the chance to discuss ideas, startups and the prospects for AI development with someone who truly understands the subject.

One market participant, who goes by the pseudonym Ada Hopper, said her rate reaches $5,000 an hour. In her words, the highest earnings go not to simply beautiful women, but to those who can combine attractiveness with intelligence and an interest in technology.

Paradoxically, it is the rapid development of artificial intelligence, which many see as a threat to human communication, that has led to a rise in the value of real attention and face-to-face contact. As the women in the story note, in a world where digital interlocutors are becoming more accessible, communication with a real person is becoming a luxury item.
