Historic visit of the President of Cyprus to Kazakhstan

President of Cyprus Nikos Christodoulides will make the first official visit in history to Kazakhstan, which will begin on Tuesday, 2 June 2026. The main practical outcome of this trip will be the official opening of the Embassy of the Republic of Cyprus in Astana, underscoring Nicosia’s intention to expand its diplomatic presence in Central Asia. The official part of the visit and the main meetings are scheduled for Wednesday, 3 June.

The visit program includes a one-on-one meeting between Nikos Christodoulides and Kazakhstan’s President Kassym-Jomart Tokayev, after which talks will continue in an expanded format with the participation of both countries’ delegations. The sides will sign a number of bilateral agreements and memorandums of understanding covering such areas as air connectivity, higher education, culture, sports, as well as cooperation in information technology and cybersecurity. In addition, the President of Cyprus will address a business forum, visit the Alem AI International Center for Artificial Intelligence, and the Kazakh leader will award him the Order of Dostyk (Order of Friendship), First Class.
