Israeli Energy Minister Eli Cohen said that a gas pipeline between Israel and Cyprus will be built despite regional tensions. According to him, the country intends to carry out its energy projects without external pressure.

Cohen also stressed that Israel aims to maintain close cooperation with the United States and supports preserving the country's military edge in the region, including amid the possibility of advanced weapons being supplied to Turkey.

In addition, the minister said that the American oil and gas company ExxonMobil is in talks about possible participation in the fifth licensing round for the exploration of oil and gas fields in Israel. It is believed the company could work together with Energean, which is already developing the Karish gas field.

According to Israeli authorities, the country has additional natural gas potential of around 400 billion cubic meters. New discoveries are expected to strengthen Israel's energy security and increase state revenues.

In the long term, Israel intends to develop infrastructure for the transport of oil and gas in order to become an energy bridge between the countries of the Persian Gulf and Europe.
