2,107 divorces registered in Cyprus in 2024 — nearly six a day
In 2024, 2,107 divorces were registered in Cyprus — nearly six a day. The data was released by the Statistical Service of Cyprus (CyStat).

The highest number of marriages were dissolved in Nicosia district — 794. Limassol recorded 575 divorces, Larnaca 397, Paphos 250 and Famagusta 91.
The average duration of a marriage that ended in divorce was 13.2 years. At the same time, 33 couples separated before completing their first year of marriage, 130 divorces occurred in the fourth year of marriage and 143 in the fifth.
Almost half of the divorces — 1,047 — involved couples with no dependent children. There was one child in 541 cases, two in 397, three in 72, four in 18, and five or more in three. In total, 1,638 dependent children were involved in divorces in 2024.
Couples in which both spouses were Cypriot citizens separated most often: they accounted for 1,167 divorces. The remaining cases involved mixed marriages and couples in which both spouses were foreign nationals.
