Thunderstorms with hail expected in Cyprus as temperatures rise to 39°C by Monday
An unstable air mass has settled over Cyprus: local rain and thunderstorms are possible in inland and mountainous areas, with hail not ruled out. Meteorologist Panayiotis Georgiou reported this.

Skies will be mostly clear overnight, with fog forming in places, mainly in the eastern half of the island. Temperatures will fall to 22°C inland, around 24°C on the coast and 18°C in the mountains. Winds will be southwesterly and northwesterly, light to moderate at 3–4 Beaufort, reaching 4–5 Beaufort in places in southern areas and on windward slopes. The sea will be slightly rough in the afternoon.
From Sunday, the weather will become mainly clear and the heat will return: temperatures will rise to 37°C inland and to 39°C on Monday. From Tuesday, temperatures will drop by 2–3 degrees and by the middle of next week will be close to seasonal averages: around 35°C inland and 30°C on the coast. No significant rainfall is expected until Wednesday.
