Cyprus and Armenia to Collaborate on Finding Missing Persons

Authorities from the Republic of Cyprus and Armenia have confirmed their cooperation on the issue of missing persons, a pressing concern for both nations.

The confirmation of this collaboration was announced during a meeting between Anna Aristotelous, head of the Humanitarian Affairs Division for Missing and Detained Persons, and Tigran Mkrtchyan, the Armenian Ambassador to Cyprus. During the meeting, Aristotelous emphasized that the issue of missing persons is the most tragic aspect of the Turkish invasion.

"We continue to make tireless efforts to determine the fate of our missing citizens and to preserve their memory," she added.

The Cypriot representative also assured that the well-being and preservation of the Armenian community in Cyprus remain a state priority. Today, approximately 4,000 Armenians live in Cyprus.

It was also noted that Armenia continues its efforts to locate its citizens who went missing due to conflicts with Azerbaijan, starting from the early 1990s. These efforts have been intensified between 2020 and 2023.
