11 flights diverted to alternate airports due to bad weather in Cyprus
Eleven flights bound for Cyprus were diverted to alternate airports because of severe weather that hit the island on Saturday morning. Ten of them were due to land at Larnaca Airport, and another at Paphos Airport.

Maria Kourouppi, director of aviation development and communications at Hermes Airports, the operator of Larnaca and Paphos airports, announced this. Asked whether any flights had been cancelled because of the weather, she answered in the negative.
“Now that the severe weather is moving away, the planes are departing from the airports where they had been temporarily grounded and heading to Cyprus,” Kourouppi said. Some departing flights experienced minor delays due to the extreme weather conditions. By midday on Saturday, the situation had returned to normal.
The bad weather hit the island in the morning. Heavy rain and thunderstorms caused rockfalls and landslides in the mountains: the Lemithou — Treis Elies (Lemithou — Treis Elies) and Treis Elies — Kaminaria (Kaminaria) roads are closed. Police also reported rocks and soil on the road surface on the Gerakies — Kykkos, Orkontas — Kambos, Kambos — Chandoupa — Pyrgos and Kambos — Kykkos roads, and drivers are urged to exercise extreme caution.
The road under the Chalepianou overpass, which had been closed because of accumulated water, has already been reopened, and traffic there is moving normally.
