Up to 37 °C in Cyprus today, temperatures to return to normal by Wednesday

Temperatures in Cyprus are expected to reach 37 °C during the day today, but the mini heatwave is already beginning to recede: by Wednesday, temperatures will drop to seasonal averages. Low cloud and fog will clear in places in the morning, after which the skies will be mostly clear, while cloud cover will increase in the afternoon and brief showers are possible in mountainous areas.

Maximum temperatures will reach around 37 °C inland, 31 °C on the west coast, about 33 °C on the remaining coasts and 29 °C in the mountains. Winds will be variable and light, force 3, then southwesterly and northwesterly, light to moderate, force 3–4; gusts may reach force 5 in exposed coastal areas.

Skies will remain mostly clear at night, with fog expected in places in the eastern and inland areas towards morning. Minimum temperatures will be 19 °C inland, around 21 °C on the coast and 17 °C in the mountains. On Monday and Tuesday, the weather will be mostly clear, with dust possibly present in the atmosphere; clear weather will continue on Wednesday.
