Cyprus repatriates 119 irregular migrants: more than 5,000 people returned since the beginning of 2026
The Cyprus Police reported the return to their countries of origin of 119 third-country nationals who had been staying in the country illegally. The operation was carried out as part of measures to combat irregular migration, jointly by the Aliens and Migration Unit (YAM) and the Deputy Ministry of Migration.
Since the beginning of 2026, 5,288 people without legal grounds to remain in the country have been repatriated from Cyprus through voluntary and forced return procedures. At the same time, 856 people arrived in Cyprus irregularly this year, fewer than during the same period in 2025, when the number of irregular arrivals stood at 1,299.
The police said they would continue working with other competent services to increase the number of returns of third-country nationals staying in the country unlawfully.
