Cyprus identifies 60 dangerous products in the EU safety system

Cyprus’s Consumer Protection Service registered 60 products posing a risk to consumers’ health and safety in the European rapid alert system Safety Gate. The products were identified on the markets of various EU countries, after which information about them was entered into the system to warn consumers and prevent their use.

To check whether these products are available on the Cyprus market, the information was distributed among government departments.  The Consumer Protection Service received information about 16 products, the Department of Electrical and Mechanical Services — about 17, the Department of Labour Inspection — about 13, and the Department of Road Transport — about 8.

Two more products will be checked by the medical services, two by the Department of Environment, one by the Mines Service and one by the building materials sector of the Ministry of the Interior.

Consumers are advised to check the full list of products on the Safety Gate website. The information is also available in Greek. Businesses that sell or have previously supplied the listed products to the market are urged to notify the relevant government department immediately.

Consumers who have one of the listed products are advised to stop using it, if necessary, return it to the shop where it was purchased and notify the relevant authorities.
