Cypriot Swimmer Wins Silver Medal at Paris Paralympics

Cypriot swimmer Karolina Pelendritou has added another medal to her impressive collection, winning silver at the Paralympic Games in Paris. This achievement marks her seventh Paralympic medal.

On Sunday evening, Pelendritou competed in the S11 50m freestyle event and finished second. The gold medal went to China's Jia Ma, who set a new world record during the race.

"Even though this is my seventh Paralympic medal, it feels just as special as the first one because every competition comes with its own challenges and rewards," Karolina shared on her social media.

The awards ceremony took place on Sunday evening at the La Defense Arena in Paris. Cyprus was represented by the Deputy Minister of Social Welfare, Marilena Evangelou, who attended the event.

"This feeling is indescribable. Karolina Pelendritou continues to make history," said the Cyprus National Paralympic Committee.

Looking ahead, Karolina is set to compete again on Thursday, September 5th, in the SB11 100m breaststroke event. She expressed her hope for achieving the best possible result.
