Cypriot Windsurfer to Compete at the 2024 Paris Olympics
Cypriot windsurfer Natasa Lappa has secured her spot at the 2024 Olympic Games in Paris. She will represent Cyprus in women's windsurfing.
The 22-year-old athlete, who trains at the Limassol Nautical Club, qualified for the Olympics following the withdrawal of a participant from Switzerland. As the top finisher at the Last Chance Regatta in April 2023, Natasa Lappa was next in line for the Olympic quota.
The upcoming Olympics will be the second in the career of the Cypriot windsurfer. She previously competed in the Tokyo 2020 Games, where she placed 21st in the RS
windsurfing competition. In Paris, this event will be replaced by iQFOiL, a windsurfing format where the board appears to hover above the water rather than glide on it.
As of now, Natasa Lappa is ranked 44th in the World Sailing Federation's rankings.
"I will do my best to honor Cyprus, our flag, and our island at the 2024 Olympic Games," stated the athlete.
