Kitten stolen for a bank robbery: unusual crime ends in failure within minutes

A story unfolded in the US state of Maryland that sounds more like the plot of an absurd comedy than a real crime. A man stole a three-month-old kitten from a pet store and then took her along to rob a bank. However, the bold plan failed almost immediately.

According to police, shortly before the robbery, the man went to a PetSmart pet store in Beltsville, where he grabbed a three-month-old kitten named Magnolia and fled. It later emerged that this was not a spur-of-the-moment act: store employees said the suspect had been regularly visiting the animal section for several weeks, spending a long time watching Magnolia in particular and apparently planning her abduction in advance.

After that, the man headed to the nearest bank branch. Entering with the kitten in his arms, he unexpectedly asked a female employee to hold the animal while he wrote a note demanding that money be handed over to him. Bank employees immediately notified the police.

However, the robber did not get far. Police arrested him just minutes after the attempted robbery. According to preliminary information, he did not manage to obtain any money.

Fortunately, Magnolia herself was not injured. The kitten was safely returned to the pet store, where employees responded to what had happened with humor. They said Magnolia’s only «crime» was that she «steals hearts, not money».

The unusual story quickly spread through the American media and social networks. Users joked that the fluffy «accomplice» turned out to be the most innocent participant in the robbery, while her calm behavior during the incident only added even more absurdity to the strange story.
