Aging crisis in Cyprus: elderly people are short of support
Experts are sounding the alarm over the critical state of the care system for older people. The main problems are:
* **Loneliness and isolation:** many are left without any social support.
* **Shortage of places:** a lack of state and quality private nursing homes.
* **Poverty:** low pensions are often not enough for basic medicines and food.
Community organizations are calling on the authorities to urgently expand social programs to ensure people a dignified old age.
