Forest fire near Androlikou in Paphos district brought under control in 40 minutes
A forest fire in the Androlikou community in Paphos district was brought fully under control. The Department of Forests of the Ministry of Agriculture, Rural Development and Environment said the fire broke out on Saturday, 29 August, at 16:40 in the Laona area, in the Vyzakia locality.

The fire was contained at 17:20 — forty minutes after it started. It burned around six decares, or approximately 0.6 hectares, of low wild vegetation and dry stubble.
Two firefighting aircraft, 12 Department of Forests personnel with three fire engines and a bulldozer, as well as a three-member Fire Service crew, took part in the firefighting operation.
The cause of the fire is being investigated. The fire broke out on a day when severe thunderstorms passed over Cyprus: earlier in the day, the Department of Forests had already been called out over a forest fire in Limassol district that was caused by a lightning strike.
