Another 260 kg of ketamine found in Limassol, bringing total seized to 386 kg

Cyprus police have discovered another approximately 260 kg of ketamine at a warehouse in Limassol. The find is part of the case involving a large consignment of the drug seized in the city two days earlier: the total amount of ketamine seized in the case has reached 386.63 kg.

The consignment was found by officers from the Limassol Drug Squad. According to a preliminary assessment, it is the same substance as in the first discovery. “The substance initially appears to be the same ketamine that was seized earlier,” police said.

Two days earlier, police searched two homes in Limassol. They found 126.63 kg of ketamine, 34 g of cocaine, 12 g of MDMA, €4,150 in cash, 42 packs of smuggled cigarettes, precision scales and mobile phones.

Four people have been arrested in connection with the case — two married couples, citizens of Israel and Palestine. On Sunday, a court issued an order remanding them in custody for eight days.

According to investigators, the suspects brought the drugs from Israel on luxury yachts and concealed them in paint cans: the consignments passed through the marinas of Limassol and Larnaca. Police believe the drugs were distributed mainly among Israelis living in Cyprus.
