Two men on a motorcycle open fire on office building in Limassol

Unknown assailants opened fire on an office building in the Linopetra area of Limassol. Two men on a motorcycle opened fire with a handgun at around 23:00 on Wednesday; no one was injured.

The shots damaged the glass entrance door and a first-floor window. Five shell casings were found at the scene. The area was cordoned off, and the investigation is being conducted by the Limassol Criminal Investigation Department (TAE).

According to Assistant Chief of Police Lefteris Kyriakou, there were two assailants: they arrived on a high-powered motorcycle with their faces covered, and the passenger fired while the motorcycle was moving, after which both fled. The attack was captured on CCTV.

The building belongs to a 60-year-old businessman and Ukrainian citizen. His companies operating in real estate, investments and technology are based there. At the time of the attack, the owner was outside Cyprus and will give a statement after his return.

“No complaints had been filed against him, and he had not attracted the police’s attention in any way,” Kyriakou said. The motive for the attack has not yet been established.

The Limassol Institute of Professional Training also operates in the same building; exams there went ahead as scheduled.
