Medicine, computer science and accounting are the most in-demand fields among Cypriot applicants
5,139 candidates will take part in the 2026 Pancyprian entrance examinations, competing for places at public universities in Cyprus and Greece. According to the Ministry of Education, Sport and Youth, of the total number of applicants, 4,798 are this year’s graduates, while 341 graduated in previous years. In addition, 413 people plan to apply to military academies, and 642 candidates will sit the exams under special conditions.
Greek is the most widely taken subject, with all 5,139 participants sitting it. Among the most popular subjects are also advanced mathematics (2,826 people), physics (2,224), English (2,171) and general mathematics (2,006). They are followed in popularity by biology, economics, chemistry, history and computer science.
As a first-choice priority, applicants most often selected the Medical School of the University of Cyprus, named by 604 candidates. In second place is the Department of Computer Science (347), and in third place — the Department of Accounting and Finance (339) of the same university. Psychology, architecture, business administration, public administration and pedagogy are also in high demand.
When all submitted applications are analysed regardless of priority order, the greatest interest was drawn by the Department of Integrated Marketing Communications at the Cyprus University of Technology (TEPAK), with 2,161 applications. It is followed by the departments of psychology (1,929), primary education (1,893), and communications and internet studies (1,838). The final statistics confirm that the key areas of interest for Cypriot applicants remain healthcare, technology, business, psychology, marketing and education.
