Man who held two women hostage pleads not guilty

A 36-year-old man accused of holding two women hostage in an apartment in Larnaca has pleaded not guilty to all charges brought against him.

At a hearing before the Larnaca Permanent Criminal Court, the accused denied all 11 charges, including kidnapping, unlawful detention, threats, causing bodily harm, psychological violence, unlawful possession of a knife and unlawful entry.

The court set October 12 as the start of the trial. The accused will remain in custody until then.

The incident took place on March 25, 2026. According to police, the man, who was armed with a knife, held two women in the apartment and threatened them. After police arrived, officers from a special unit were brought in to conduct negotiations, and they managed to resolve the situation without casualties.

Both women were taken to hospital for medical examinations.
