Cyprus Prepares for Surge in Seasonal Infections

Medical professionals in Cyprus are warning of an impending surge in seasonal infectious diseases. Currently, the situation remains stable; however, doctors anticipate a deterioration in the coming months.

According to Alpha News, which cites various doctors, the peak of infections is expected to occur between January and March, with viral infections, particularly the common cold, likely to be the most prevalent.

Additionally, doctors are predicting outbreaks of influenza and respiratory syncytial virus (RSV), which primarily affect young children and the elderly. Individuals with diabetes and those with weakened immune systems are also considered at risk.

In the event of an infection, doctors recommend taking antiviral medications, as these can provide protection against the virus.

It is important to note that updated flu vaccines have already been received in Cyprus. This includes a new highly effective vaccine designed for citizens over the age of 60 and individuals with health issues.
