Second Phase of Apostle Andrew Monastery Reconstruction Begins in Cyprus

The second phase of the reconstruction of the Apostle Andrew Monastery in Karpas, Northern Cyprus, has officially begun. Sotos Ktoris, the head of the Technical Committee for the Cultural Heritage of Greek Cypriots, shared the news on social media.

According to Ktoris, the second phase involves restoring the medieval chapel located at the lowest level of the complex, as well as the holy spring.

The project also includes the restoration of the historic 1919 wing, repairs to the main complex and church, and exterior work.

Funding for the project is provided by the Church of Cyprus and EBKAF, with oversight by the United Nations Development Programme (UNDP).

It's important to note that the first phase of the conservation and preservation of the medieval chapel of Apostle Andrew (Agios Andreas) in Karpas began in early January this year.

At the time, the head of the Technical Committee for Cultural Heritage described the collaboration between Greek Cypriots and Turkish Cypriots to preserve monuments as “excellent.”
