Cyprus to Appoint a Patient Rights Commissioner
President of the Republic of Cyprus, Nikos Christodoulides, has announced that a Patient Rights Commissioner will soon be appointed.
The President made the statement following the Stelios Bi-Communal Business Cooperation Awards ceremony, referencing a recent parliamentary vote that approved the creation of this new role.
“I welcome the decision to appoint a Patient Rights Commissioner — it fills an important gap in our healthcare system,” said Christodoulides.
He emphasized that the new commissioner is part of a broader set of reforms aimed at improving the quality of healthcare services in Cyprus. He also noted that additional important steps will follow in this direction.
The President expressed his satisfaction with the outcome of the parliamentary vote and confirmed that the appointment process would begin very soon.
