Cyprus-wide university entrance exams held in Cyprus
The first stage of the annual Cyprus-wide examinations, which determine placement in the country's public higher education institutions as well as universities in Greece, has concluded in Cyprus. This year, 5,139 graduates of lyceums and technical schools competed for the chance to become students. Hundreds of teachers and inspectors from the Ministry of Education monitored the conduct of the testing.
The examination marathon has officially begun, and the first mandatory test for all applicants was traditionally the exam in Modern Greek language and literature. The results of these tests will determine not only future admission, but will also affect the final grades in graduates' school certificates. The official results and lists of those admitted to publicly funded places will be published after all papers have been checked, closer to the end of July.
