Cyprus to clear 200 illegal dumps: campaign to cover 100 communities

Cyprus has launched its third nationwide campaign to clean up illegal dumps. Around 100 communities are taking part, and the programme’s total budget is €1 million. The campaign aims to eliminate around 200 illegal dumps, primarily in areas at increased risk of forest and rural fires.

Each participating community will receive funding ranging from €4,000 to €15,000, depending on the scale of the work required.

Preparations have also begun to install cameras in the areas that will be cleared. They are intended to monitor the sites and prevent illegal dumping from recurring.
