Wages and job vacancies increased in Cyprus in the first quarter of this year
According to data published by the Statistical Service, wages and job vacancies increased in Cyprus in the first quarter of 2025.
Preliminary data show that hourly labour costs in Q1 2025 increased by 4.8% compared to the same quarter of the previous year.
Two components of labour costs – wages per hour and non-wage costs per hour – increased by 4.8% and 4.9%, respectively, compared to the same quarter the previous year.
Seasonally adjusted hourly labour costs rose by 1.3% compared to the previous quarter.
Seasonally adjusted hourly wage costs rose by 1.3%, while seasonally adjusted non-wage hourly costs increased by 1.5%.
The number of job vacancies in Q4 2025 was 13,524, up by 295 positions (2.2%) from 13,229 in the same quarter last year. Compared to Q4 2024, it rose by 527 positions (4.1%).
The share of vacancies relative to total employment and vacancies in Q3 2025 was 2.9%, while in the previous and the same quarter of 2024 it was 2.8% and 3.0%, respectively.
The highest vacancy rates in Q1 2025 were in "Arts, entertainment and recreation" (6.9%), "Accommodation and food services" (5.2%), and "Transportation and storage" (4.5%).
