Temporary traffic restrictions to be introduced on Cyprus roads

The Road Department of the Republic of Cyprus has published an updated schedule of roadworks, due to which temporary traffic restrictions will be in force on the island’s motorways and regional roads.

Work will take place on the Larnaca — Ayia Napa, Larnaca — Kofinou, Nicosia — Limassol, Limassol — Paphos, and Nicosia — Kokkinotrimithia roads, as well as on a number of roads in Nicosia, Larnaca, Limassol and the Troodos mountain area.

Depending on the section, individual lanes will be temporarily closed, detours introduced, reversible traffic implemented, or traffic regulated using the Stop & Go system. The restrictions are related to road repairs, bridge maintenance, vegetation trimming, construction of pavements, pedestrian crossings and other road infrastructure.

Some of the works are already underway, while the rest will be carried out in stages throughout July. On some sites, the restrictions will remain in place until September, and individual projects will only be completed in 2027.

Drivers are advised to plan their routes in advance, follow the temporary road markings and take possible delays into account.
