Up to €900 to be allocated for installing solar water heaters in Cyprus
The Council of Ministers of the Republic of Cyprus has approved a subsidy scheme for the installation and replacement of solar water-heating systems in residential buildings. The programme’s total budget is €1 million.
The basic subsidy will amount to €500 per household. Residents of mountainous areas and members of vulnerable groups will be able to receive up to €900.
Applications can be submitted until 20 December 2026, but the application period will close earlier if the limit of 2,000 applications is reached.
The subsidies apply only to certified solar systems that meet the technical requirements. The equipment must be installed by specialists from the official register, and the systems themselves must be included in the approved list.
According to Minister of Energy, Commerce and Industry Michalis Damianos, the programme is intended to help residents reduce their electricity costs and make greater use of solar energy.
The scheme has been in effect since 2022. Under the current version, the basic payment has been increased from €450 to €500, while the increased subsidy of €900 for residents of mountainous areas and vulnerable groups has been retained.
