Historic Mosque in Tera Village Restored as Part of Cyprus Conservation Efforts

Restoration work on the historic mosque in the village of Tera (Çakırlar), located in the Paphos district, has been completed by the Technical Committee on Cultural Heritage.

Ali Tuncay, co-chair of the Committee, shared that following the completion of the project, committee members visited the site together with local residents. The project aimed to preserve the building’s structural integrity while also protecting its architectural and historical significance.

As part of the restoration, the site was cleared of vegetation, and repair work was carried out on the plastered walls, roof, wooden doors, and windows.

This project is part of a wider effort to preserve mosques across the Republic of Cyprus. Renovation of the mosque in Evdim (Düzkaya) is nearing completion, while work continues on the mosques in Docheia (Taşkent) and Tuzla.

The initiative is funded by the European Union and supported technically by the United Nations Development Programme (UNDP).
