Threats to Bomb Hospitals and Hotels in Cyprus: Interpol Joins Investigation
On Tuesday evening, authorities in Cyprus received alarming reports of bomb threats targeting a private hospital in Limassol and two hotels in Nicosia. The perpetrators demanded ransom payments, warning that they would detonate bombs if their demands were not met. Interpol has joined the investigation to track down the suspects.

The threats were delivered via email around 7:30 PM. The email sent to the hospital demanded a ransom of €25,000, while the messages to the hotels demanded €75,000 to be paid in Bitcoin.
All three establishments promptly reported the threats to the police. Bomb disposal teams conducted thorough searches of the locations but found no suspicious items or explosives.
On Wednesday morning, Cyprus police's cybercrime unit, with support from Interpol, launched an intensified investigation into what are now confirmed as hoax bomb threats.
Interpol is actively working to identify the origin of the emails. Preliminary findings suggest the messages were sent from a country outside the European Union. Reports indicate that Cyprus may not be the only target, as similar threats have been identified elsewhere.
Authorities believe the motive behind the threats is straightforward extortion, aimed at exploiting fear to secure ransom payments.
