Cyprus Emergency Rooms Overwhelmed by Heat Strokes and Food Poisonings

Emergency rooms (A&E) in the Republic of Cyprus are experiencing an increase in patients suffering from heat strokes and food poisonings.

The state health organization has recorded a rise in the number of people seeking treatment for heat exhaustion, sunburns, food poisoning, and gastroenteritis.

While the situation remains manageable, a representative of the state hospitals has urged the public to use emergency services wisely, especially during weekends when the demand on doctors is particularly high.

Currently, three people are being treated for heat stroke at Nicosia General Hospital: a 34-year-old man and a 66-year-old woman in the intensive care unit, as well as a 78-year-old woman. Their conditions are reported to be stable.
