An international festival opens in Nicosia on 12 September: 22 productions from six countries
The seventh Nicosia International Festival will run from 12 September to 1 November. The programme features 22 theatre, dance, music and performance productions from six countries: Cyprus, Greece, Lebanon, France, Ireland and Spain.

The main venue is the Nicosia Municipal Theatre, but some events will take place outside it: performances will be staged in the city’s cafés and gardens. The programme and tickets are available at nif.cy, the festival’s website, and by phone at 22-797979.
The festival opens on 12 and 13 September with screenings of “Goodbye, Lindita”, directed by Mario Banushi — a production about loss, memory and bonds that do not break after death.
On 15 September, the Comédie-Française will come to Cyprus with “The Event” (L'Évènement), directed by Françoise Gillard. It is based on the autobiographical book by French writer Annie Ernaux, winner of the Nobel Prize in Literature.
On 17 and 18 September, “The Woman of Zakynthos” will be performed at the To Erma café in central Nicosia — the production was created by the Kinitiras group and Antigoni Gonia. The programme on 20 September features “When I Saw the Sea” by Lebanese choreographer Ali Chahrour: the performance is based on the real-life stories of three women about dignity, freedom and survival.
